HD Copy

Hi, I have been told that I can not copy a IDE drive to a Sata drive using any copy program. Anyone have any experience with this? I have copied many IDE to IDE and SATA to SATA but never IDE to SATA. I could just try, but I thought I would ask first. Thank you for your assistance in advance
